The Falchion Ace HFX features ROG HFX magnetic switches, a Rapid Trigger toggle and an 8000Hz polling rate.
ASUS has announced the Falchion Ace HFX, a 65% analog wired gaming keyboard engineered for gamers looking for precision, speed, and customisation. Featuring ROG HFX magnetic switches and an 8000Hz polling rate, this ultra-compact keyboard incorporates arrow and navigation keys into a 65% keyboard layout. Measuring 315mm in length, ASUS states that it's almost the same size as a 60% keyboard, so that "gamers can enjoy all the functions of a normal keyboard while saving desktop space".
ROG HFX Magnetic Switches
The ROG Falchion Ace HFX comes equipped with pre-lubed magnetic switches that according to ASUS, are "designed for a solid feel and lightning-fast, ultraprecise performance". With a claimed lifespan of 100 million keypresses, ASUS states that the switches use high-quality POM plastic for the stem and bottom housing, and PC for the top housing, which in turn can ensure ultrasmooth keystrokes. The walled stem design enhances stability while keeping out dust, thereby helping to enhance durability and reliability.
The Falchion Ace HFX features a customisable actuation range, which allows gamers to adjust the actuation point from 0.1mm to 4.0mm to match their gaming and typing experiences. This adjustment can be managed through the rear-mounted multifunction button and touch panel, or via the ASUS Armoury Crate or Armoury Crate Gear software.
Rapid Trigger and Speed Tap Modes
The ROG HFX magnetic switches come with Rapid Trigger technology, which allows the switch to reset instantly as it moves upward. According to ASUS, this feature is "crucial for gamers, enabling maximum strafing potential with minimal effort". In addition, with the Speed Tap mode enabled, when two opposing directional keys are pressed, Speed Tap prioritises the last input, automatically releasing the previous key. ASUS touts that this feature can eliminate any time gap for counter-strafing, ensuring that every directional change is immediate and precise.
8000 Hz Polling Rate
The Falchion Ace HFX comes with a high-speed USB microcontroller that delivers an 8000 Hz polling rate, which according to ASUS, refreshes input up to 8X faster than most gaming keyboards, reducing input lag from a typical 1 millisecond for standard 1000Hz gaming keyboards to just 0.125ms.
Flexibility and Comfort
The keyboard features five dampening layers — two PORON and three silicone — that absorb keystroke vibrations and reduce noise for a cushioned typing experience. It also offers dual-port flexibility with two USB Type-C ports for connecting and switching between two PCs, and comes with a protective cover that doubles as a tray mount. Additionally, the keyboard includes two pairs of feet, providing three ergonomic tilt angles to match an end-user's preferred typing position.
Availability & Pricing
The ASUS ROG Falchion ACE HFX will be available from early October 2024 in Singapore, and is priced at $309 Singapore dollars.
