The next instalment of NVIDIA's "Ada Lovelace" RTX 4000 series GPUs have dropped - with the GeForce RTX 4080 16GB now available to purchase from retail.
Fresh from the launch of the RTX 4000 series of GPUs built on the Ada Lovelace architecture, starting first with the flagship RTX 4090 back in October 2022, NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 4080 16GB graphics cards are now available to purchase as of 16 November 2022 6AM PST. To get in on the excitement, ALKtech unboxes an ASUS card sporting the RTX 4080 GPU with a factory overclock - the TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4080 16GB GDDR6X OC Edition.

Packaging & Accessories
The TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4080 16GB GDDR6X OC Edition comes in an eye-catching package, in large part due to the cut-off edges that are sure to make this product stand out on a shelf of regular rectangular graphics card boxes.
The card comes with an extensive list of accessories:

- Graphics card holder with built-in screwdriver
- TUF Gaming Velcro hook and loop

- Mobile phone holder
- Warranty card

For a walkthrough of the included accessories, be sure to check out the unboxing video embedded above at the start of this article.
That said, some interesting accessories worth mentioning include a mobile phone holder that comprise a series of cardboard punch-0uts, which require assembly before use.
ASUS has also included a graphics card holder that doubles up as a screwdriver - the said holder seems to be made of aluminium, and feels well-constructed.
Aesthetics & Physical Features
ASUS's new design language for its TUF Gaming series of graphics cards, which was first seen on the RTX 4090, has been carried over to the RTX 4080 16GB as well, where it sports a gunmetal grey die-cast metal shroud coupled with an aluminium backplate.
The card comes with RGB lighting effects on the long edge, which lends visual flair.
Also included is a switch that allows end-users to toggle between a Performance mode and Quiet mode, depending on your intended use case.
Summary
The ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4080 16GB GDDR6X OC Edition is a premium offering of a RTX 4080 graphics card, with great build quality and a pleasing gamer-oriented aesthetic that would lend itself well to a premium gaming PC build.
While I did not get the chance to carry out performance benchmarks with this card, an initial sense of the market reaction to the RTX 4080 16GB's pricing and performance seem to indicate that NVIDIA would do well to revise the RTX 4080 16GB's prices downwards, as its current pricing places it very close to the RTX 4090 that can offer significantly better performance. Perhaps with the launch of AMD's RDNA 3 cards, namely the Radeon RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT in December 2022, competition from Team Red might encourage NVIDIA to price the RTX 4080 16GB in a more palatable price bracket - only time will tell.
